PANTRY, Convenience Store


Student Brief, 2 Days

The goal for this brief was to create an identity for a new convenience store chain.  The Brief specifically asked to appeal to young professionals so I played around the idea of a pantry room. Most of the new houses don't have a pantry anymore. I wanted to make that old-timey feeling of a pantry storage approachable for modern people so I came up with the idea of simplified shelves as the basis of the identity. Simple but with the tone of voice for the store, versatile and fun. The colour palette with subtle tones conveyed the ideal of bringing fresh and natural products to it's shelves, looking friendly and approachable overall.

The brief asked to create a corporate identity for the official tourism agency of City of Mumbai. I found Mumbai to be almost like a maze where you want to lose yourself in and where you might see something unexpected on every corner so I came up with this typographic treatment to make the logo look like a maze. I wanted two colour options for logo to convey the different sides of Mumbai at day & night. It's a whole new experience when the lights come out. I created some icons inspired by logo to help with way-finding, to be used on mobile website and also to be used on promotional items for the city.

This is my e-publication design for iPad. For this brief I worked on the Masthead and the interactivity for a publication on digital platform. Name of the magazine 'Deviate' brought out the idea of unexpected alignments and also inspired the minimal and contrasting colour palette. Annual community report for the City of Footscray, Australia. Footscray is characterised as a very diverse, multicultural city and a highly industrial one. Different colours coming together to form the frame symbolise all the different backgrounds creating the city and are also a repetitive element throughout the report. Blocks were also a repetitive element indicating both the industrial characteristics of the city and the pieces of diversity shaping and making up the city.

SOUNDS LIKE, Sound Art Event

For this brief I was expected to crate an identity for a sound art event. The first thing I thought was everyday sounds we hear around. Starting to think of how to crate a design around that idea, I started experimenting with 'onomatopoeia' (sound imitating words). I started writing down some of the most common sound imitating words and matched them with typefaces that I think might be the visual representation of those sounds as well. That became the main focus of the identity and I called the event 'Sounds Like' which referenced those everyday sounds and how the overall look and feel of the event sounded like.
